MT. OLIVE, N.C. -

North Carolina State Highway Patrol says alcohol and speed are believed to be a factor in an accident that killed one and injured three in Wayne County last night.

Troopers responded to an accident on US 117 outside of Mt. Olive at approximately 5:30 last night. Trooper Fowler says Yobani Talacois, 22, was driving south on US 117 in a Chrysler Sebring when he crossed over the center line and hit a Mazda 6, carrying three people, head-on.

Trooper Fowler says Talacois was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Mazda, Kerineck, 20, sustained serious injuries. The two passengers in the vehicle Hugo Sosa, 32, and a 17-year-old both have critical injuries. The 17-year-old's name was not released, and they were transported to Vidant Medical Center with critical injuries.

Troopers say alcohol and speed are believed to be a factor in the crash and are waiting on an autopsy from Talacois. 9 On Your Side will bring you more information as it becomes available.
