New Bern family hosts marines

Posted: Updated:
NEW BERN, N.C. -

A New Bern community hosted a couple of marines and prepared them a special meal.

Fairfield Harbour organizers Bruce Shattuck and his wife Joan welcomed five marines to their home.

Shattuck says people should think about giving back and this is their way of doing just that.

For Pfc Michael Phillips, it was just great someone opened up their home for military servicemen and women.

This is the seventh year Fairfiled Harbour hosted the marines for Thanksgiving.
