RALEIGH, N.C. -

Alcohol and speed are believed to have been factors in a crash in Raleigh Friday night that killed two.

Around 7:10 p.m. Friday, Raleigh Police say Logan Sloane Aronson, 23, was driving about 90 mph on Lynn Road when he lost control of his vehicle near Lynn Road's intersection with Grimaldi Court.

After hitting a tree, Aronson's vehicle was split in two, and the passenger side of the vehicle remained embedded with the tree, where it caught fire. The driver's side of the vehicle continued until hit struck a second tree and then a third.

Police estimate that Aronson's vehicle was traveling 81 mph when it hit the tree. The speed limit in the area of the accident is 45 mph.

Both Aronson and the passenger in Aronson's car, 23-year-old Edward Blake Tolley, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
