CARY, N.C. -

A woman and her teenage son suffered knife wounds during a dispute between the mother and another woman Sunday morning, a Cary spokeswoman says.

Town spokeswoman Carrie Roman said the son came to the aid of his mother when he heard her in an argument in their apartment at 613 Pony Club Circle. Roman said the son was injured when he wrestled away a knife the other woman was using to attack his mother.

The son was transported to WakeMed in Apex for treatment of injuries. His mother was taken to Duke University Hospitals in Durham where she was being treated for injuries to her head and shoulder.

Roman said the wounds were not life-threatening.

The suspected attacker was being questioned by Cary detectives Sunday morning.
