One person was injured Monday morning in a multiple-vehicle accident on Interstate 540 in Raleigh.
The accident occurred between Creedmoor Road and Leesville Road.
Highway Patrol said a vehicle described as a small truck pulling a trailer merged into the center lane of I-540 from the far left lane. As it was merging into the lane, it clipped a Dodge Challenger, which then clipped a tractor trailer in the left lane.
The tractor trailer pulled over to the side of the road where it was at a complete stop. A black pick-up truck was trying to move around the tractor trailer and get over into another lane when it was clipped by a black Prius. The Prius went under the rear of the tractor trailer.
The Highway Patrol said the driver of the Prius was male and was taken to WakeMed.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, Walter Gardner of Goldsboro, has been charged with failure to remove a vehicle after an accident. The driver of the Prius, 23-year-old Brandon McLean of Yemans Way in Raleigh, has been charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
McLean was hurt in the accident and is in serious condition.
