Boy fighting cancer delivers holiday cheer to other children in hospital

Posted: Updated:
DURHAM, N.C. -

A boy fighting cancer at Duke Hospital in Durham is delivering a little holiday cheer to others.  Nathan Norman's family brought 600 gift bags to Duke Children's Hospital on Monday.

His mother, Dawn, says this is a tradition her family started in 2009.

"They love serving,” said Dawn.  “They love being able to give to other kids and just to give to others period.  They get more out of that than receiving something themselves. They love to be able to give. Nathan was carrying bags that weighed almost as much as he did."

"The toys are for little kids because it's nice,” said Nathan.  “Merry Christmas."

Nathan, who turns seven this month, will continue his chemo treatments over the next few weeks.

His family also started a non-profit this year called "Hope for Tomorrow" which helps with projects like the Christmas bags.
