Roanoke Christmas display draws big crowds

Posted: Updated:

Christmas lights are everywhere this time of year but most of them don't look or sound like this.

The Lights on Longhorn display in Roanoke.

Paul Salvey animated all his Christmas lights to songs like Justin Beiber, Despicable Me and What Does the Fox Say.

He says it takes about twenty to forty hours for each song.

This is the second year he's done it.

"We saw it on a video on YouTube a couple years ago. A guy in California did it to 'Sexy and I know it' and it went viral and he actually ended up going nationwide and I looked at my wife and I said 'I want to do that' and she said 'I can't believe you haven't already asked me to animate the Christmas lights'"said Salvey.

You can drive by and turn your radio during the show and watch the faces sing songs.

He started the display last year and has changed it for this year. It's a huge draw.

"My daughter called me last year when we were at my wife's Christmas party and said you need to get home. I couldn't even get down the street. I had people yelling at me saying 'you need to wait in line if you want to see the house'. I said 'that's my house I'm going home'" said Salvey.

He says his neighbors don't mind.

You can see the light show every night through January 5th.
