***POSTED at 5:05 P.M. on Tuesday, December 10th***

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) advises the customers of the Langley Water & Sewer District, located in Aiken County, to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking.

DHEC officials say, a major line break has resulted in a loss of pressure and service of many of the customers of the Langley Water & Sewer District. They say there has been no confirmed contamination of the system, but because of the loss of pressure, the potential for contamination exists.

Officials say, to minimize problems using the water, as a precautionary measure, the customers are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking until notified otherwise by DHEC. Also, any ice made from water which has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.

Water system personnel are working to restore pressure and service to the entire system. Those having any questions concerning this notice, may call the Langley Water & Sewer Office at 803-593-3404.
