UPDATE: One arrested in NW Roanoke shooting

Roanoke Police say one man is in custody and another is in the hospital, after a shooting incident Monday morning in Northwest Roanoke.

RPD spokesperson Scott Leamon says officers received a 911 call just after 9:00am about a shooting that had taken place in the 600 block of Naho Street.  When they arrived on scene, they found the victim, 23-year-old Richard Salters, nearby along the 2700 block of Centre Avenue.  He was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

Police arrested 19-year-old Timothy Zimmerman in connection to the incident.  The investigation is ongoing.

Roanoke Police are investigating a shooting that took place Monday morning in Northwest Roanoke.

RPD spokesperson Scott Leamon says officers were called out to the 2700 block of Centre Avenue just after 9:00am, where they found the victim. That person, who is not being identified at this time, was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

Leamon says no arrests have been made.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Roanoke Police Department.

Centre Ave and a section of Milton Street near 27th Street is currently blocked off by crime scene tape while police investigate.
