Shots Fired At Officers In Shiloh Community Of Asheville, Man Arrested

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - An 18-year-old Asheville man was charged after shots were fired at Asheville Police officers in the Shiloh community.

Officers charged Kewan Marquis Shade with five counts of assault with a dangerous weapon with the intent to kill.

Asheville Police say two officers and three residents were shot at.

Shade also  faces two counts of assault with a firearm on law enforcement.

The incident began around 12:30 p.m. Thursday when two officers were serving a warrant near Shiloh Road and Brooklyn Road.

A manhunt began after the officers dove for cover and radioed for help.

A person of interest was located and was taken to the police department for questioning about three hours later. Officers recovered a 45 caliber and 9mm handgun  during the investigation.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Asheville Chief William Anderson said that this was a very dangerous situation. "I am glad we were able to remove him  from our streets," Anderson said in a statement.

Shade is at the Buncombe County Detention Center on a $350,000 bond.
