CARRBORO, N.C. -

The man killed early Friday morning in apparent home break-in in Carrboro had a long criminal past, according to Department of Public Safety records.

One person was killed and another wounded early Friday morning in Carrboro in an apparent break-in at a home on a quiet street not far from the University of North Carolina campus.

Carrboro Police said they responded to a call at 1:52 a.m. about a possible armed robbery at 105 Wesley Street. Wesley Street is about nine blocks west of the Carolina Inn and the UNC campus.

Officers arrived and found two people with gunshot wounds.  One person was dead and the other was transported to UNC Hospitals with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Friday afternoon, Carrboro Police identified the man who was killed as David Lee Goodman, 27, who lived in Durham.

Goodman was convicted and imprisoned in 2008 on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He previously had been charged with cruelty to animals, violation of a local ordinance, possession and use of drug paraphernalia,  and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police said they are looking for a man for questioning but do not believe there is a danger to the community.

Carrboro, a town of about 20,000 people, has not had a homicide since 2008.
