Shooter fires shot into Greene County man's jaw

Posted: Updated:
SNOW HILL, N.C. - New details are emerging in a Greene County Shooting that sent 58-year-old Aquilla Blount to the hospital.

Deputies say it happened outside his house on Appletree Road near Stantonsburg. They got the call around 3 Friday morning.

Family members say Blount's daughter heard a rumble outside. It came from the family's shed. She woke her father who peaked out the back door shouting at a person he saw in the shed.

That’s when the suspect shot from the shed, hitting Blount in the jaw. The shooter is still on the loose.

“It's just pure senseless for someone to do this to a good man as Blount was.” Gerald Padgett said.

Blount’s brother-in-law Bobby Williams says the family is seeking justice. “Whoever it is, I hope they do get caught. Sooner or later it's going to come to light.”

Blount is in stable condition at Vidant Medical Center. Greene County deputies want to hear from you. If you have information that can lead them to the suspect, call (252) 747-3411
