Columbia County Commission has voted to send a letter to Governor Nathan Deal asking him to investigate the allegations and make a decision about Tax Commissioner Kay Allen's job status.
Charles Allen, the District 3 Commissioner, who is married to Kay Allen, recused himself from the vote.
Kay Allen is accused of collecting tax money from Harlem and Grovetown then putting it in her personal account. Commission members say they never gave approval for Allen to pocket the money.
The Sheriff's office is investigating the alleged misdeed and has turned over files to the District Attorney.
Governor Nathan Deal has ten days to make a decision about Kay Allen's job.
