SHELBY COUNTY, AL - A green male with a history of stealing Christmas trees, ornaments, decorations and presents from local children has been apprehended.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office Facebook, Grinch, 56, originally from Mount Crumpit, had been hiding out in the Shelby County areas and intending to continue his pattern of burglaries. A tipster from Whoville alerted authorities to his plans to visit the area.

“Our Investigators spotted his dog, Max, at the Alabaster Dog Park, and we managed to secretly put a microphone on his collar,” Sheriff Chris Curry Curry said. “Thankfully, for our investigation, Grinch tells his dog everything.”

After investigators seized evidence, deputies apprehended the Grinch after a short foot chase. With a taped confession in hand, Grinch remarked. “How could it be so?” Grinch said. “It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags!”

“My hopes are that the citizens of our county can now relax and have a very Merry Christmas, and enjoy their families and feasts without the fear of this anti-holiday beast,” Curry said upon helping book the Grinch into the Shelby County Jail. Then he turned to the Grinch and said, “You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch. You really are a heel.”

No word at this point as to whether Grinch has been rehabilitated or is expected to repeat his trickery next year.
