NC wildlife officials to consider rules for bears

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission plans to hold nine public hearings next month on the state's wildlife management, game lands and fishing regulations for the coming years.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported ( http://bit.ly/19K4OzC) there also will be discussions on rules for the state's black bear management plan.

The commission regulates hunting to maintain a healthy bear population.

Other topics to be discussed at the meetings include the rules on deer hunting with bows, as well as adjusting the rules for guns and crossbows.

There also will be discussion on proposed rules that encourage private landowners to allow fishermen access to inland waters.
