Soldier home for Christmas proposes to his girlfriend on the ice

Posted: Updated:
SPARTANBURG, SC - An ice skating rink in downtown Spartanburg, South Carolina turned out to be the perfect setting for a marriage proposal.

20-yr.-old soldier Preston Harris was skating with his girlfriend Megan Hart for several minutes when he stopped in the middle of the rink to pop the question.

With other skaters watching, Harris got down on one knee and Hart said yes.

Harris just returned home from serving in Afghanistan.  The two met while he was stationed in Florida and he's now stationed in Hawaii.

The staff at Skating on the Square helped to make Sunday night's proposal a reality.
