Man shot to death in Lumberton

LUMBERTON, N.C. -

A Lumberton man has been shot to death and Robeson County sheriff's deputies have taken two teens into custody.

Deputies say 28-year-old Brandon Lynn Sampson was shot in the back of the neck and died at Southeastern Regional Medical Center late last week.

Deputies say Sampson and his former girlfriend had been arguing about their child.

Investigators say as the argument ended, a pickup truck with several people inside drove into the yard toward Sampson's vehicle and a shot was fired.

A 17-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder and firing a gun into occupied property.

Nineteen-year-old T.J. ,Kenneth Hammonds of Lumberton has been charged as an accessory after a felony. It was not clear if he has a lawyer . Deputies did not explain Hammonds' involvement.
