Needy Ayden families receive holiday food baskets

Posted: Updated:
AYDEN, N.C. - Many local families struggling to get by will now be able to enjoy a Christmas dinner.

Local volunteers packed over 100 holiday food baskets. And Tuesday, those meals were delivered to needy Ayden families.

Each basket contained a whole chicken, rolls, canned goods and a pound cake; everything you need for a merry Christmas dinner.

Ayden mayor Steve Tripp says the town enjoys giving back during the holiday season.

"This is a time to celebrate Christmas,” said Mayor Steve Tripp, Town of Ayden. “In partnership with Ayden Ministers Association, a local business and the government body to reach out to those families who may not get blessed during the holidays with food and a meal.”
