LEE COUNTY, VA (WJHL) -

For one determined Lee County, VA man a pair of lottery tickets in his Christmas stocking led to big win.

Adam Sexton, of Jonesville, VA, received two Virginia Lottery tickets for Christmas. One of the tickets led to a $10 prize. Sexton used those winning to buy a few more tickets . He won $15. So he used those winnings to buy some more tickets at Black Diamond on Morgan Avenue in Pennington Gap. One of those tickets won $100,000.

“I almost passed out,” Sexton said. “My girlfriend scratched the ticket,” he said. “She was laughing at me because I was freaking out. She didn’t think it was really a winner.”

Sexton, a welder, says he has no immediate plans for his winnings, but it may help him make a down payment on a house.

Sexton played Jewel 7’s, one of dozens of scratch-off games available from the Virginia Lottery.

More than $1.3 million per day is generated from lottery sales in Virginia for the states’ K-12 public schools.
