WJBF News Channel 6 has learned a Richmond County Sheriff's Office deputy has been fired.
A Sheriff's Office spokesperson tells us, an internal investigation regarding past conduct of Deputy Austin Shepherd was started last week.
The spokesperson says, during the course of the investigation, information surfaced that prior to the current Sheriff's Office administration, Deputy Shepherd engaged in activities that may be considered a violation of his Oath of Office. As such, Deputy Shepherd was terminated effective Tuesday, December 31st.
We are told the case is still under investigation and no further information is available pending the investigation's conclusion or the termination appeal process.
