One person is dead after a Monday evening crash on the 4200 block of Mike Padgett Highway.
A Richmond County Sheriff's Office spokesperson says the crash happened around 5:42 p.m. Monday afternoon.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office Traffic Division responded to the scene after getting a call about an accident with injuries. Upon their arrival, deputies learned that a 66-year-old male was driving a 2003 GMC Sonoma truck and had exited the private driveway of 4278 Mike Padgett Highway attempting to turn left to travel south on Mike Padgett Highway. The driver of the Sonoma has been identified as Kemal Aydin of Youngblood Drive in Hephzibah, by the Richmond County Coroner's Office. He was pronounced dead at 10:38 p.m. Monday night. According to Coroner's Office, Aydin was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that a 48-year-old male was driving a 2004 BMW and was traveling north on the 4200 Block of Mike Padgett Highway.
Investigators say, Aydin was executing his left turn and did so in the path of the BMW, causing the front of the BMW to strike the left side of the Sonoma.
The driver of the BMW was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
