The Burke County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a sex offender who they say has fled the area.
Deputies are searching for 40-year-old Tracy Harris, of Girard, after the Burke County Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Tracking Unit discovered that Harris, who was living in the Girard area of Burke County, recently moved to an unknown address in Richmond County without registering with the Sheriff's Office, said Sergeant Dan Lowe.
Harris had been convicted for a 1996 Statuary Rape which occurred in Screven County, Georgia.
A warrant for Harris's arrest was obtained on December 9th for Failure to Comply with the Sex Offender Registry.
Harris is described as being 5'9" tall and weighing 180 pounds. He has short black hair, brown eyes, and was last known to have a goatee.
