Augusta, GA -
As the  calendar turns, Augusta's ambulance service is in limbo.

In August Commissioners voted to renegotiate a new contract with Gold Cross to be the city's service provider, however city leaders failed to approve the new deal before the end of December.

Commissioners say Gold Cross will continue providing ambulance service until the new contract is approved which city leaders say should be at the first meeting of this year.

"There's been some concessions on both sides they gave up some money, from the city in the contract and we in turn got some control in what goes on I have not heard from any of the other commissioners about any concerns I expect this to pass next week," says Commissioner Donnie Smith a member of the city Public Safety Committee.

Under the new agreement Gold Cross will cut its city subsidy by 400 thousand dollars over three years,

Smith says, commissioners didn't have a chance to review the deal before the final meeting in December and that was the reason for the delay.
