2nd man arrested in Thanksgiving armed robbery

Posted: Updated:
KINSTON, N.C. - Lenoir County deputies have arrested a second person for a Thanksgiving armed robbery.

They took 23-year-old Linwood Hagans of Goldsboro into custody Tuesday. He's being charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Deputies say he confessed to helping to rob the North Lenoir Community Mart November 25th.

He's in jail with bail set at $65,000.

Deputies say he joined Emmanuel Gardner in the crime. Gardner's already charged in the robbery as well as others.

Deputies say the video shows Gardner fired shots at the clerk while Hagans stole money. They believe he also helped rob the Crossroads store near Hugo.

--- Original Story ---

Lenoir County Deputies arrest a man for a series of robberies that happened late last year.

Deputies say 32-year-old Emmanuel Gardner is responsible for four crimes around Lenoir County.

Deputies say Gardner and a second suspect first committed an armed robbery at the North Lenoir Community Mart on November 25th.

They say Gardner and his partner robbed Lewis Food Mart in Farmville the next morning.

Two more crimes occurred on December 1st and 10th in Snow Hill and in Lenoir County.

Deputies identified Gardner as one of the suspects after a multi-agency investigation.

Sheriff Chris Hill located Gardner after seeing him parked suspiciously under an overpass on Pauls Path Road in Kinston before heading back to his home also on that road.

Hill says Gardner hid masks and the gun used in the robberies in a coffee can.

He’s booked in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $1, 100, 000 secured bond.

He faces multiple charges. They are as follows:

·         3 Counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon (2 from Lenoir, 1 from Snow Hill)

·         1 Count of Attempted 1st Degree Murder (Lenoir County)

·         1 Count of Second Degree Kidnapping (Lenoir County)

·         1 Count Attempted Breaking or Entering (Greene County)

·         3 Counts of Possession of Firearm by Felon (Lenoir County) (Two other counts pending for Snow Hill and Greene County)

The second suspect hasn’t been identified and the investigation continues.
