Escaped inmate asks to go back to prison because it’s too cold outside

Posted: Updated:
KENTUCKY - It's so cold in Kentucky thanks to the polar vortex that an escaped inmate couldn't take it anymore and turned himself in.

Police say after Robert Vick escaped from prison he broke into an abandoned farmhouse, stole some clothes and went to sleep.

But on Tuesday he showed up at a motel asking for help.

"He said, ‘can you call the law on me?’” described Maurice King, motel manager.  “And I kind of looked at him.  I thought he was crazy or something."

"It's cold out here,” said Victoria Fugate, motel customer.  “The poor old guy; he was pitiful."

"He was ready to go back,” said King while laughing.

Moments later, police showed up with an ambulance and took Vick to the hospital.  He's expected to face additional charges of escape.
