Fayetteville leaders go digital to get feedback on improvement

Posted: Updated:
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville city leaders are turning to a new online platform to get feedback on improving the city.

The web site at www.FayettevilleOutFront.com  will allow citizens to share ideas in a virtual conversation.

City staff will post surveys, host forums, create discussions and manage public projects. Residents can also create and post their own ideas or comments and vote on ideas created by other citizens.

City Manager Ted Vorhees said people are still welcome to give feedback at meetings and through phone calls, but the site gives them a new option.

"Many people expect to be able to engage business and friends and other associates through facebook or some sort of other online presence," Vorhees said. "We decided we needed to get on to that."

Vorhees says his management staff and elected officials will consider the online feedback just like suggestions they get through more traditional means. According to information from the city, "reports and analysis based on the opinions shared on the web site will be distributed to policy makers, such as City Council members and department heads to inform them as they make decisions that affect the community."
