Nash Co. K-9 unit finds missing boy

RED OAK, N.C. -

The Nash County Sheriff's Office used a K-9 by the name of Sasha to find a missing 12-year-old boy Jan. 1.

The sheriff's office said it was called to the 800 block of Swan Road in Red Oak, northwest of Rocky Mount, in response to a missing child.

Deputies called for several additional units along with a K-9 after learning the missing boy had a medical or mental disorder.

Once on the scene, the K-9 known as Sasha was able to located the boy after a two hour search, the sheriff's office said.

The boy was transported to the hospital for treatment of exposure to the elements.
