The Fayetteville Fire Department battled a fire that damaged a vacant house Tuesday on Lawrence Avenue.

Authorities said firefighters responded to the call of a residential structure fire around 7:50 p.m. at 210 Lawrence Ave. off Rosehill Road.

Responding crews arrived to see heavy smoke coming from the single-story residence. The fire was quickly under control but the dwelling sustained moderate damage from the fire and smoke damage throughout the building, authorities said.
