GOLDSBORO, N.C. - A victim of a breaking and entering in Wayne County helped deputies to catch the suspects.

On January 14, 2014, around 1:30 pm, Wayne County Communications received a call from a victim on Little River Drive, Goldsboro, in reference to a breaking or entering in progress.  The victim had arrived home and entered the residence when the victim observed an unknown person on the back porch breaking one of the windows.  The victim then noticed a second person in her back yard hiding behind the corner of a building watching the first subject.  When the two subjects realized that someone had arrived home and they had been seen, both subjects fled the area.  The victim remained on the line with communications as deputies were dispatched to the scene.

Deputies say a detective and other uniform personnel quickly arrived on the scene where one subject was taken into custody.  The victim provided a very good description of the second subject and he was quickly located by other deputies on Buckswamp Road in close proximity to the crime scene.  Both subjects were positively identified and arrested.  The subjects arrested are:

Joseph Robert Powell, 20, of Goldsboro
Eric Alexander Hamm, 18, of Goldsboro
Both received a $1,000.00 secured bond.

No further arrests/charges are expected and the investigation is complete.
