GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Freshman guard J'Kyra Brown had a career day in East Carolina's 86-55 victory over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night. Brown registered career-bests in points, steals and assists to help the Pirates improve to 15-2 on the year and 3-1 in Conference USA action, while the Lady Techsters fell to 5-12 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Brown poured in a game-high and career-best 29 points to go along with a career-high four steals, four rebounds and a career-best three assists. She finished the game shooting 78.6-percent (11-for-14) from the field and 75-percent (6-for-8) from three-point range. Redshirt sophomore forward Jada Payne also registered a 20-point performance as she connected on 7-of-10 field goals, 2-of-3 three-point shots, and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. Payne added five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals. The contest marked Payne's 15th double-figure performance of the year as well has her ninth 20-point effort of the season.

Redshirt junior post Ondrea Shaw contributed a career-high and game-high 13 rebounds in the game. She also tied her career-high with eight points while adding four blocks and three steals. Shaw now has 53 total blocks on the year to rank fourth in the ECU single-game record book.

East Carolina shot 60.7-percent in the game as the Pirates connected on 34-of-56 field goals. ECU was solid from three-point range as well shooting 62.5-percent (10-for-16). The Pirates grabbed 44 rebounds while limiting LA Tech to just 28 in the contest. ECU also held the advantage in assists, 21-13, as well as steals, 13-11, and blocks, 5-4. The Pirates' defense was on point as the Lady Techsters were held to just 31.1-percent (19-for-61) shooting and a mere 14.3-percent (2-for-14) from beyond the arc.

The Pirates got on the board first with a layup from Janesha Ebron and never looked back. ECU used a 13-2 run to jump out to a 15-4 lead and Brown put the Pirates up 32-13 after rattling off back-to-back threes followed by a pair of buckets. Brown went on a hot streak in the first half as she contributed 12 points to a 14-0 ECU run. The Pirates shot an impressive 72.4-percent (21-for-29) from the field in the first half en route to taking a 52-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Brown recorded 23 of her 29 points in the first half alone as she shot 90-percent (9-for-10) from the field and 83.3-percent (5-for-6) from beyond the three-point line.

LA Tech was limited to just 25.8-percent (8-for-31) shooting in the opening frame. The Lady Techsters only connected on one three-pointer as they shot 14.3-percent (1-for-7) from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes of action.

ECU continued its offensive tear in the second half as the Pirates rattled off 11 points extending their lead to 39 (69-30). Following the Pirates' 11-0 run, LA Tech went on an 11-0 run of its own to cut the Pirates' lead back down to 28 points (69-41). East Carolina did not allow the Lady Techsters to come any closer as the Pirates surged ahead and took the game by a final of 86-55.

Louisiana Tech had three double-figure scorers in the contest as Veanca Hall led the Lady Techsters with 13. Whitney Frazier and JaQuan Jackson each added 11 points in the setback.

The Pirates have now won seven of their last eight games and look to continue their winning ways when they play host to Rice on Wednesday, January 22, at 7 p.m.
