ROXBORO, N.C. -

The winter storm that dumped snow on the East Coast turned Roxboro and most of Person County into a winter wonderland Tuesday.

The first snow started to fall around 4:30 p.m. and has accumulated to two to three inches on the grass. The roads remained in decent condition but are sure to deteriorate as temperatures drop over night.

Not everyone wanted to go outside to enjoy the snow. Some Roxborians took to Shark's Billiards to keep warm.

Carl Gifford said playing pool beats being at home but he still loves the snow.

"Don't want to sit at the house and just watch TV," Gifford said. "I love it. I hope it gets butt deep to a giraffe."

Some, like Anna Petrea, went out and enjoyed the snow while it lasted. She made a snow angel by the Golden Corral on Highway 501.

"I'm very happy about it," Petrea said. "School might be delayed."

Person County Schools are closed Wednesday as the falling temperatures could make for a dangerous morning commute.
