New Bern and South Central among Tuesday winners

NEW BERN, N.C. -

New Bern became the first team in the Eastern Carolina 3A/4A Conference to beat JH Rose on Tuesday. The Bears led by Collin Jacobs (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Rhysante Ellis (19 points) beat the Rampants 72-69.

In Greenville, South Central outlasted DH Conley 49-45. The Rampants and the Falcons are now tied atop the ECC with records of 5-1 in league play.

On the girls side, McDonalds All-American nominee and North Carolina signee Jamie Cherry continues to dominate the Coastal 3A Conference. Cherry scored 41 points on Friday and then 40 points tonight against Havelock. West Craven beat Havelock 68-48.
