Durham police seek suspect in shooting death of 9 year old

DURHAM, N.C. -

Investigators with the Durham Police Department have charged Everett Lamont Graves with murder in the shooting death of a 9-year-old boy on Jan. 4.

Jaeden Sharpe and his mother, 31-year-old Lakeisha Holloway, were in a vehicle on Lucas Drive when shots were fired into the vehicle Jan. 4 around 6 p.m.

Holloway drove away to get help and she and her son were taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Sharpe died on Jan. 10.

Police said Graves, 23, of Elmira Avenue, has been charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in connection with this incident.

Graves is not in custody at this time.
