Seven soldiers with the 96th
Civil Affairs Battalion received medals for valor during a ceremony this morning
at Fort Bragg.
Staff Sgt. Michael P. Pate, of
Charleston, S.C., was presented the Silver Star medal for actions during a
reconnaissance patrol in Afghanistan.
The Silver Star is the third
highest military decoration for valor in the United States Armed Forces.
During the ceremony, held at the JFK Memorial Auditorium, Lt. Gen. Charles T. Cleveland, commanding general for the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, also awarded two Bronze Star Medals with Valor Devices, and four Army Commendation Medals with Valor Devices.
