Suspect surrenders in connection with murder of 9-year-old boy

DURHAM, N.C. -

A man wanted for murder in the Jan. 4 death of a 9-year-old boy turned himself in to Durham police Thursday.

Everett Lamont Graves, 23, turned himself in to authorities Thursday on charges of murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in connection with this incident.

Graves is charged in connection with the Jan. 4 shooting of 31-year-old Lakeisha Holloway and 9-year-old Jaeden Sharpe.

Police say Holloway and Sharpe were in a vehicle on Lucas Drive when shots were fired into the vehicle. Holloway drove away to get help and she and her son were taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Sharpe died six days later.
