Fayetteville night club closing after 2 shootings, drug complaints

Posted: Updated:
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Two shooting investigations and a series of complaints about drug use and violence at a Fayetteville night club are forcing the owner to shut down the bar.

Special Agents with the N.C. Department of Public Safety's Alcohol Law Enforcement Section are investigating a shooting that took place Saturday at Solar Lounge and Sports Bar located at 3624 Ramsey St. in Fayetteville. Authorities said a gun fight erupted between two patrons in the parking lot. One person was shot as well as several vehicles.

ALE agents had been working at the nightclub earlier in the night due to complaints of drug activity and because of a previous shooting on Jan. 4.

ALE agents report the Solar Lounge and Sports Bar has been the source of several complaints, including drug activity, loud music, and violence.

The bar owner has agreed to surrender all Alcoholic Beverage Control licenses and close the bar. The state ABC has been notified to put Solar Lounge and Sports Bar on a no permits list.
