    A 10-year-old boy is in critical condition after a pine tree fell on top of him while he was playing on a zip line in Easton.

A 10-year-old boy who was critically injured in a backyard zip line accident in Easton died Friday.

Matthew Cox, of Saco, Maine, suffered a brain injury Dec. 26. He was sliding on a zip line set up between two trees when one of the trees started giving way. Cox jumped off the line, but the tree snapped and fell on top of him.

Relatives said Matthew died at 3:32 p.m. at Children's Hospital in Boston.

The Bristol County district attorney said Friday that the boy's death is being treated as a tragic accident.
