Posted: Updated:
A boy fell several stories from a condominium building in Birmingham Friday.

The Birmingham Police Department reports the incident happened at the Regency Crown building on Beacon Parkway.

Emergency crews responded to the scene about 10:45 a.m. The BPD reports a mother and her son were inside their home, when the child gained access to the patio. The 7-year-old boy apparently climbed onto some plastic furniture and was standing on top of it. The child flipped over the patio’s railing, and fell 5 stories onto the pavement below.

The boy survived, and was taken to the hospital. As of the 5 p.m., he was in stable condition.
