JH Rose beats rival DH Conley, James Rankins honored before game

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

The JH Rose Rampants beat rival DH Conley tonight in their second matchup of the season. Rose was in control the whole way and went on to win 49-34. Omisha Stewart led Rose to yet another big Eastern Carolina 3A/4A win. They are now tied atop the league with South Central (both have 5-1) records.

The highlight of the night came before the game when Rose recognized Head Coach James Rankins. The court over at Rose will be known as "Rankins Court" from now on. Coach Rankins' family, friends and a handful of his former players were on hand for the occasion.

Elsewhere in high school hoops, Farmville Central knocked off North Pitt 67-56. The Jaguars remain in first place in the Eastern Plains 2A Conference.

Down in Ayden, the Chargers played host to the Kinston Vikings. Ayden-Grifton hung tough in the first half but Kinston pulled away after the break. The Vikings went on to win 81-52.
