Highway Patrol preparing for expected snowfall

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - The State Highway Patrol is gearing up for expected snowfall by scheduling extra troopers and longer shifts.

Trooper Doug Coley says they're anticipating more problems on the road than we saw with last week's snowfall. His biggest concern is people who don't slow down...despite bad road conditions.
You can expect to see more troopers patrolling the highways, enforcing the speed limit and looking for wrecks.

"If you do get into a wreck, our response times are going to be slower because of the roadway conditions,” said Doug Coley, Highway Patrol. “That also means for the EMS and the fire department, too. You're putting other people in danger if you don't have to be out and you're out riding around in these conditions."

Coley says if snow covers the roads, the best safety net for drivers is to just stay home.
