Teen charged in shooting near Rocky Mount church

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting at a Rocky Mount church Monday night.

Police arrested Shyheim Collins Thursday night and charged him with four counts of attempted murder.

Collins is accused of shooting more than 15 bullets toward a crowd playing basketball behind Word Tabernacle Church on Nashville Road on Monday.

Four people were injured in the shooting, including 12-year-old Nyreek Horne who remains in the hospital.

The other three victims, who have been identified as Michael Lyons, 17, Jakavis Whaley, 19 and Antwon Jefferson, 13, were treated and released.
