35 warrants now issued in "Pot of Gold" crackdown

GREENVILLE, N.C. - There’s an update in Pitt County's operation "Pot of Gold" to crack down on illegal video sweepstakes machines.
     
Thirty-five warrants have now been issued by the Pitt County Sheriff's Office.
     
They say they are now charging store owners who had five or more machines with a felony. They've already served warrants to 20 store owners.
     
On January 7th, law enforcement officers in Pitt County seized dozens of illegal sweepstakes machines from convenience stores across the county.     

In total, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office and Greenville Police Department targeted 29 stores. They seized more than 90 machines and 33 thousand dollars in cash.
