Police in Orangeburg find drugs under hood of vehicle

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC - Saturday night officers with the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop in the Cordova area that resulted in two arrests and marijuana being seized.

According to police officers they were patrolling the Cordova area and noticed a white Chevy vehicle swerving along Terrace Road.  The officers made a traffic stop and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car as they approached. 

The passenger, Edward Hamilton, told police he had marijuana in his pockets.  The driver, Frederick Shuler, said he did not have any drugs.

A K-9 officer alerted police to the driver's side of the hood, there officers located a plastic container with marijuana inside along with a scale.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell stated, "We are working diligently to make this county safer and running drug dealers out of town is one way we can do that."
