Hattiesburg Freedom Summer Dialogues Begin

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -Dialogues leading up to the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Freedom Summer started Tuesday.

The Freedom Summer dialogue took place at the Hattiesburg Cultural Center.

Guest speaker.Anthony J. Harris gave his personal account of civil rights in Hattiesburg.

Harris is one of many trailblazers from the Pine Belt who fought for civil rights and was even put in jail for his beliefs.

Dozens of community members attended the event.

They say talks like these help preserve history. The dialogues will be every first Tuesday of each month until May.
