South Central takes control of Eastern Carolina 3A/4A

Posted: Updated:
WINTERVILLE, N.C. -

The South Central Falcons and JH Rose Rampants squared off tonight in Winterville with first place in the Eastern Carolina 3A/4A Conference on the line. Led by Tyrick Suggs' 24 points the Falcons beat the Rampants 77-73.

Rose jumped out to a quick lead because of the play of their star, Cornell Powell. Powell had the Rampants first 10 points and finished the game with 23 points. South Central would come back though. They hit a couple of late 3's, including a Jae'tavion Edwards buzzer beater and it was the Falcons who led at halftime.

This game was back and forth the whole way. Rose made a run late in the 3rd quarter and even had a one point advantage going into the 4th quarter. But a couple of plays by Tyrick Suggs were the difference. He had back to back 3 point plays to put the Falcons ahead for good.

The highlights from a wild game in Winterville are on 9 on Your Side Sports at 11:20!
