Traffic stop leads to arrest of Florence mom, police say children tested positive for illicit drugs

Posted: Updated:

Tonya Parker, age 34, of Florence was arrested by Florence County Sheriff's Office on February 4, 2014 and charged with trespassing and public disorderly conduct.  Deputies said they responded to a complaint of a verbal altercation that happened occurred on Misty View Lane.  Later that night, a vehicle matching the general description of a vehicle involved in the earlier verbal altercation was noticed in the area again.

When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle operator refused to stop for the blue light and led the deputy on a short pursuit before turning into a driveway on Misty View Lane. Parker reportedly got out of the car and tried to get away.

According to Deputies, two other occupants remained in the vehicle but refused to comply with the deputy's verbal commands and were extremely loud and disorderly.

It was later determined Parker had pending FCSO arrest warrants for unlawful neglect of a child.  The police report indicates between the dates of May 1, 2013 and September 11, 2013 Parker's minor children tested positive for illicit drugs.

It was also determined that the vehicle involved in the pursuit was stolen.  The investigation into this incident is ongoing and additional arrests and charges are possible.
