The following press release is from the Black History Team:

IT'S BACK!!! Last year after a devastating tornado ripped apart  parts of the City of Hattiesburg, it also decided to jump in the parade a little earlier taking turn for turn the exact parade route all the way down Mobile St including marching directly into Chain park where the parade was scheduled to end and the festival was set to begin and literally destroyed the park. HOWEVER, this year, we have more favorable weather and a chance like no other to finally celebrate African American Heritage like never before in the 16 year tradition of the Black History Parade & Festival.

The 16th Annual Black History Parade & Festival 2014 will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014. The Parade will begin on W. Front Street in front of Jackie Dole Community Center, marching through downtown Hattiesburg turning left on Mobile St. The parade will continue turning right at the intersection of E. 4th & Mobile, turning left onto Bouie, & then turning right onto E. 8th St concluding at Chain Park.

The Festival will be held at Chain Park. It kicks off at 12:00 Noon. The festival is FREE & Open to the public.

All parade registration can be done online via: http://www.savingourteens.org/paradeinfo.html. Any questions, email us via: blackhistory@savingourteens.org.
