Three arrested in Opelousas crack cocaine bust

Over the past 6 months, The Opelousas Police Department's Special Operations Unit, LSP, and Patterson Police Department have been working a narcotics investigation involving an alleged major drug dealer. The target of the investigation was identified as 28 year old Joshua "Wop" Johnson.

Over the course of the investigation, officers seized approximately $15,000 of crack cocaine.

On Thursday, Johnson was arrested after selling 2.5 ounces of crack cocaine with a street value of $3,500.00, to an undercover police officer. Immediately after the purchase a team of officers comprised of OPD, LSP, St. Landry Sheriff's Office, moved in.  Johnson attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended.

Officers armed with search warrants for 2 addresses conducted thorough searches. No additional drugs were located, however, a High-Point 40 caliber handgun was located at one of the homes. Also arrested in this investigation was 31 year old Damiel Pierre as well as 43 year old Blonda Hunt, both of Opelousas.

Joshua "Wop" Johnson was charged with 4 counts of distribution Of Schedule II, Conspiracy to Distribute Schedule II.

Damiel Pierre was charged with Distribution of Schedule II.

Blonda Hunt was charged with Distribution of Schedule II.

All are now incarcerated in the St Landry Parish Jail and will go before a magistrate in the morning.
