Jacksonville motor vehicle theft suspect apprehended

Posted: Updated:
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - Jacksonville Police officers have arrested a man who was wanted for motor vehicle theft and other charges in connection with a February 13th incident in the Carolina Forest area.

18-year-old Deonte Meadows is in the Onslow County Jail under a $206,000 secured bond. Officers say additional charges are pending.

Investigators say his arrest follows the theft of a car from a retail shopping area on Western Boulevard Extension.

Investigators say it was parked at the Wellington Grove Apartments. When they spotted the stolen car leaving the apartment complex a short time later, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle, but the driver kept going, abandoning the vehicle in a residential neighborhood on Brunswick Drive.

Officers say they found the stolen vehicle unoccupied at Savannah and Wilkins Wood.

Meadows was wanted for motor vehicle theft, felony speeding to elude, possession of stolen property, drug possession and careless driving.
