Severe weather brings danger to tow truck drivers

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, N.C. - With the recent severe weather, more drivers have to rely on tow truck operators.

But many people don't realize the risks tow truck drivers have to face.

"There's a lot of tow truck drivers that are killed every year across the U.S. from drivers not paying attention," Wayne Oliver, owner of William's Auto Body, said.

Many tow truck drivers are at risk of getting hit by drivers who are speeding and not paying attention.

North Carolina law requires drivers to move over or slow down when they see a stopped emergency vehicle, including tow trucks, on the side of the road.
